Disappointed. I was craving a chili cheese dog, and the very friendly person working there didn't seem to know what it was, despite it being on the menu. For $9 I received a hot dog with some watery sauce on it, a few beans, and some squeeze cheese. The better dishes to get here seemed to be the Mexican food on the menu.

Meats of questionable origin. Things we shouldn't eat. The comfort foods of our childhood. Quick and easy junk to fill the void. I know I shouldn't eat this stuff, but on occasion, when I'm at Stanford Shopping Center and want a quick, on-the-go snack or meal I come to Gourmet Franks.
Let's get this out of the way: it's an $8-$10 plus tax and tip hot dog. This is not one of those fancy upscale hot dog joints so don't come here expecting tempura fried wieners topped with bacon and peanut butter or whatever your kink is. I don't think you can get a chili dog here, but I could be wrong. So the price you pay is a big spend, but rent is high in the PA-CA, so what are you gonna do?
They have a chalkboard with several franks, hot dogs, brats, sausages and all those other tube shaped wonders, made from various critter parts: beef, pork, chicken for sure. I'm sometimes bad with the details so I can't tell you all the stuff. I don't know if there are any vegan options, but what's a nice vegan like you doing in a place like this? Don't pretend you're paying the price I am, putting your life at risk like I do, for the junk you eat. JKJK, come sin a little, I won't tell anybody.
They take your frank, split it in half lengthwise and grill it. It's a tasty way to have a snausage. The buns are the basic white ones, no options. The condiments are the regular ones you would find in a Chicago dog type of place. I'm not going to tell you what I put on mine because in hot dog circles nobody will ever agree on the best condiments. Just the question of ketchup or not is enough to start a fight in some places, so I've got mine, you've got yours. I've tried few of their options and depending on what I get I go fairly unadorned or drag it through all the ish. I'm partial to their all beef Hebrew National, because kosher is gonna be at least a little cleaner than some other things and they taste pretty good.
They have some basic drinks, chips, cookies and other little side items. Overall the service is a little somber but to the point. They take credit cards, but they are on some old timey 300 baud modem connection or slower. It's gonna take a long, long time for your card to go through. Pay cash if you're in a hurry.
They don't have any place to sit inside. There are outdoor tables available or you can do the ol' walk-and-eat, cruising the mall, avoiding the judging eyes, breath all smelling like hot dogs after that. Yeah, it's all A-OK. -

This place is awesome! Great little spot for a quick lunch with amazing dogs :) Outside tables are great for a nice outdoor lunch. I definitely recommend this spot. Oh and really, yes $8.00 for a hot dog! I am pretty sure I just paid $4.75 for a cup of coffee this morning, so yes the hot dog is way worth it!
